Moon Gazers

Image
A full lunar eclipse and a King Tide coinciding, colliding in the night of May 15.  Beach empty, but for a couple strolling hand-in-hand at the water's edge,  a family with  flashlights chasing ghost crabs, and a dog barking  at the moon. Spread out on the sand with a blanket, picnic supper  and bottles of water, we gazed up at the moon, full and pink, then white, then dark. The moon climbed higher and higher  in the sky full of stars. The ocean waves  crashed in and rushed back below. Moonlight on my daughter's face. Sand  crusting our  toes. A chilly breeze just before midnight chases us home.

Home On The Coast

Image
Picture this: Small coastal town. Bordered by a river, the ocean, a major highway and a winding two-lane road.  My home. Where I've lived for over three years. A place I've come to love, despite: frequent, sudden, gut-jarring rev-ups from inconsiderate motorists red-flashing-lights and toe-curling sirens from firetrucks hotfooting it down the road from the fire station bumper-to-bumper traffic during "the season" hot, hot days that drench you with sweat starting about 7 am in the summer my neighbors A place I love, because: the ocean the breezes the smell of the river at low tide the "swish" of the waves the solitude of winter at the coast  sunrise sunset rainy days sunny days my neighbors Come explore my new home with me in this blog.
